Catherine Scott, Director

Our aim is to provide unrivalled tax support to individuals, businesses and professional advisers.

Our tax director Catherine Scott has nearly a decade's experience with HMRC and undertook HMRC's full inspector training programme. She worked with businesses ranging from sole traders to FTSE listed companies.

Her formal training, and on-the-job experience, means Catherine has extensive technical knowledge of tax, as well as a detailed knowledge of how HMRC works. She knows what HMRC can do, and how they should do it. She also knows when they are acting outside their remit.

Peter Riley FCIB, Director

Peter joined Baines Jewitt in September 2002 before switching to Barrington House Solutions as a Director. He had previously spent a number of years in the corporate sector of Barclays Bank in the North East, latterly as a Relationship Director, which provided exposure to a large cross section of different sized businesses operating in a variety of sectors.

Since 2002 Peter has been involved in various corporate finance activities including preparation of business plans, share valuations, information memorandums and reviews with Banks. He is a registered Mentor with Business Enterprise - North East and has been involved with some clients on a regular basis providing general business advice.

In addition to his involvement with Barrington House Solutions Peter holds a couple of Non Executive Positions, one at a large  privately owned engineering group based in Peterlee with an annual turnover of £30m and the other with a Chicago based refractory business with world wide sales and an annual turnover of $70m.  Both roles revolve around general input into the financial and commercial aspects of the businesses.
